We are committed to providing the community with clear information and will continue to engage throughout the planning process. Our approach to engagement is focused on fostering respectful, transparent, and lasting relationships with landholders, neighbours, local community members and Council.
Detailed project planning is an iterative process, which is informed by various technical studies, stakeholder feedback and internal reviews. While we will continue to engage and meet with local community throughout the development process, some key activities have included:
The Project team and technical specialists held community consultation sessions on surface water, groundwater, and bushfire risk, providing residents and landholders with opportunities to ask questions and share feedback.
The Project team hosted community drop-in sessions to provide project updates, answer questions, and hear feedback from interested community members.
Over the next few months, we will continue working on technical studies, environmental management plans and detailed project planning. You may notice our contractors undertaking investigations to inform this work.
These investigations may include:
This work is critical to inform further project design and environmental studies required under our project approvals. For example, investigations will help us to understand the current condition of local roads to inform detailed traffic impact assessment. Stakeholders such as Council and regulatory authorities will be consulted as part of these investigations and design development. This work is expected to continue for the next 12-18 months.
Community engagement will continue throughout the preparation of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). A summary of the community issues raised during this phase of consultation and details of how the Project has responded to them will be included within the EIS.
In early November, we hosted a series of drop-in sessions and a community meeting.
These sessions provided the local community with the opportunity to ask questions about the Project, learn more about the technical studies to be completed for the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) preparation and meet the team.

Venn Energy has committed to a benefit sharing program to help support the local community, with annual contributions over the expected 30-year operational life of the project. Funding may include initiatives that support health and wellbeing, local skills development and training, education, population growth and retention, economic development, and sustainability of the natural environment. The Boree Solar Farm project is committed to ensuring the economic benefits of the project are shared with the wider Geurie and Wongarbon regions in a meaningful and lasting way.
As well as the direct benefits from the Community Benefit Fund, the Boree Solar Project will deliver several positive socio-economic benefits, including increased employment opportunities.
Up to 350 direct jobs will be generated during construction. Venn Energy is also committed to sourcing goods and services from the local region as much as possible, to ensure the Boree Solar Farm is an active and positive part of the local community.

Venn Energy is committed to using local suppliers and contractors wherever possible and has partnered with Industry Capability Network (ICN) to provide a platform for local and regional businesses to register their interest in project opportunities.
Registration on the ICN platform is free – just create a business profile and select the works package/s you’d like to register for.
Engagement of contractors and the procurement of goods and services for the Project will be undertaken by a Principal Contractor, who has not yet been appointed. The purpose of this registration of interest is to gauge local capacity and supply to encourage the use of local businesses.
